Le cours en ligne Wikidata de l'AfLIA permettra aux bibliothécaires africains et aux autres professionnels de l'information du secteur des bibliothèques d'apprendre à utiliser Wikidata comme base de données et outil de visualisation pour cartographier la connaissance et pour connecter leurs collections en reliant les métadonnées locales à un réseau de métadonnées globales, rendant ainsi l'information sur les étagères des bibliothèques, des musées et des archives plus ouverte et accessible.

The AfLIA Wikidata Online Course will lead African librarians and other information professionals within the library sector to learn how to use Wikidata as a database and visualization tool for mapping knowledge and for connecting their collections through linking local metadata with a network of global metadata thereby making the information on library shelves, museums and archives more open and accessible.

This course is designed to help participants explain the importance of open data management in Africa and open data principles, apply FAIR and CARE Principles in the librarian context, demonstrate best practices of open data principles and management in their roles as a librarians, and to advocate for the adoption and application of open data principles in African institutions.
